The Community Tea is for people who do not normally get out, although people who assist our party goers are welcome.
It has been going for a number of years and is held on the first
Tuesday of the month (except January), and runs from 2.30 pm - 4.00 pm
(depending on transport).
The afternoon starts with a cup of tea and then an activity or entertainment, of which we have had a variety, including
Various performers, including banjo and guitar players and Funtime theatre
Handicraft, including making Easter Bunnies out of rice and socks.
then follows on with homemade afternoon tea – sandwiches, sausage
rolls, cake and tea or coffee – and for those who like it - homemade
decorated fresh cream trifle (usually to a theme). The theme for
May, for example. was May Day, where 2 large trifles were made (as
Greenfield Singers had to be fed!), so the one trifle had a Maypole and
Jelly Babies dancing round it, and the other a small bunch of garden
flowers, which one of our members took home with her!
you can tell, we all have an enjoyable time – both the ladies and
gentlemen who come, and the members of church, without whom these
pleasant afternoons would not take place.
We have a core of people who come regularly, but the more the merrier ! If you know of anyone who would like to join us, please let Jane Linford know at Gig Mill Church. They would be made most welcome.
Thank you to all of you who help in any way – you really do make a difference to these people’s lives.
